Students gain in-depth knowledge of how to best use finger pads, fingertips, knuckles, palms, forearms, elbows, and discover what tools work best for each client. Body mechanics and mindfulness are explored as these things relate to working with the shoulder, promoting therapist comfort and career longevity. There is also an anatomy and physiology review which includes palpation and assessment of the rotator cuff and the musculature of the shoulder girdle. The yin and yang channels integral to the anterior and posterior arm and shoulder are examined, and questions that can further highlight which channels may be involved in pain patterns are discussed. There is a demonstration of supine and prone techniques for working with the shoulder, followed by supervised hands-on practice.
