Massage Techniques for the Hips/Low Back

This 3-hour course targets recurring issues of tension and pain in the hips and low back. Topics include a brief review of the anatomy, kinesiology and physiology of the hips and low back; proper draping; common causes of hip and low back pain; and massage techniques to address tension in the tendons and ligaments of this area. Also discussed are assessment methods and effective treatment planning to address hip and low back pain. Demonstration includes proper draping, palpation as one possible assessment method, and specific massage techniques to increase circulation and stability in the hips and low back. Supervised practice reinforces lecture and practical application of techniques.
